Due to a joint venture agreement with Wurm at the beginning of January 2019, BITZER has become the majority shareholder in the newly founded Wurm Holding GmbH. The two companies have been working closely together for many years and, in the future, will tackle technological challenges side by side.

With the joint venture agreement with Wurm, BITZER is strategically expanding its product range. The collaboration will allow both Wurm and BITZER to continue offering their customers innovative, highly efficient and intelligent solutions in the future and thus play a key role in shaping technological development in the industry.

Wurm is one of the leading providers of automation systems for refrigeration systems and building technology management in food retailing. With around 220 employees, the company generated €55 million in sales in 2017. In addition to being an expert in the energy-efficient control of refrigeration and building technology systems, Wurm is also considered to be an industry pioneer in the area of data transmission. With its products, Wurm allows users to utilise mobile data technology intelligently. The best example is the optimised app Frida (FRIGODATA). The intuitive software interface was one of the trade fair highlights of Wurm in 2018. Frida allows end users to conveniently control their systems via tablet or smartphone. ‘The responsible staff at both companies have maintained a close relationship for more than ten years, frequently discussing current market requirements. We’re now expanding this partnership – for the benefit of our customers,’ says Rainer Große-Kracht, member of the Management Board and Chief Technology Officer at BITZER. The management and sites of the Wurm Group will remain as they are. ‘It will even be business as usual for all of our customers, who will keep the same representatives,’ adds Dr Horst Peter Wurm.
